Hi:

I'm just wondering if there any plans to add export functionality to IFC2SKP and if so is there an approximate timeline.

Thanks for listening
Mark

Hello,

Yes, there is plans to add IFC export function.
First one is API level IFC export functionality, and second one would be a kind of mass modeling level IFC model data creation.

At this moment, I would say that the API level IFC export will be added within a few months.

Hello mrelectron,

How do you want to use IFC export function from SketchUp model?

For example:
- just adding or updating property set information of building components
- early sketch level BIM information such as mass model -> BIM architectural CAD

Hi:
<snip>
- early sketch level BIM information such as mass model -> BIM architectural CAD
</snip>

Exactly that.

For some background, we are developing a program that imports IFCs. We are having trouble getting consistent results with the IFC exports done from the various BIM vendors.

What we are looking at is for our users to do early low fidelity modelling in Sketchup and then use the much simpler IFC for importing into our software.

Any other info you want, let me know.

You can contact me directly if you want at mark dot a dot brand [at] gma!l dot com

Thanks
Mark

We're now looking into "early low fidelity modelling" method like following article:

How to BIMify SketchUp: Collaborative editing works for building programming, too!

Thank you.
